Quick Morning Birchermuesli

Here is a quick Birchermuesli to make on a busy morning. Filled with healthy ingredients and great nutrition, you will feel satisfied and full until lunchtime with loads of energy!

Oats are a nutrient dense, gluten free whole grain, high in fiber and higher amounts of protein than other grains and oats are a rich source of manganese and phosphorous and thiamin (VitB1). A rich source of beta glucan, a soluble fiber that reduced the absorption of cholesterol which is Beneficial for heart health.

Hemp Hearts are rich in essential fatty acids, are a high-quality protein source, contain VitB, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes / Makes: 2 Generous Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Quick Oats - not large flake oats as these take longer to soften

  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Dried Apricots or Figs or Small Chopped Apple or Raisins - or a combination of these

  • 1 Tablespoon Hemp Hearts

  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut Sugar

  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Nuts - of your choice 

  • 1 Cup Oat Milk - or a non-dairy milk you like

  • 3 Tablespoons Yogurt - coconut or dairy 

Toppings as in the photo:

  • Shredded coconut

  • Granola

  • Blueberries

  • Pumpkin seeds

  • Sliced almonds 

 Also delicious as toppings are:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Runny All-Natural Peanut or Almond Butter 

  • 1 Tablespoon of Pumpkin Puree or Mashed Sweet Potato

  • Chocolate Chips

  • Stewed Prunes

  • Banana Slices

  • Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries

  • A Splash of Oat Milk or Coconut Milk/Cream 

  • Anything Your Heart Desires! 

How It’s Made

Mix everything together and let it sit for a couple of minutes to let the oats soak in some milk.

Add toppings.

Enjoy!! 

Variation

  • This makes great overnight oats too. When serving, add milk to loosen the oats as the mixture will be very dense with the oats soaking up all the liquid.
