Italian Herb Mix

Making your own spice mixes is so easy and cost effective. I make so many different ones – a favourite is my dried Italian Herb/Spice Mix.. It's customizable - so if you love basil, add more, not a fan of thyme, leave it out. What I love most about making my own spice blends is that I know it's fresh.

Each herb in this mix not only provides rich flavour to your dish but each also infuses health and vitality to your body when you eat your meal!

As always, when you make this recipe, I would love to see your creation so please post a photo of your Italian Herb Mix goodness and tag my IG account #RenataCollective or leave a comment with your thoughts!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes / Makes: ~1/3 cup spice mix

Ingredients

  • 2½ teaspoons Dried Oregano

  • 2½ teaspoons Dried Basil

  • 1½ teaspoons Dried Parsley

  • 1½ teaspoons Dried Marjoram

  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme

  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary (pieces* or powdered)

  • ½ teaspoon Dried Sage - powdered

 * Dried Rosemary can look like tiny broken pine needles or be in powdered form. I use both for different dishes but for this mix I prefer the powdered version.

How It’s Made

  • Mix all the herbs together in a small bowl.

  • Store in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. I find it easiest to put the herb mix on a piece of parchment to pick up and pour into the jar you will store the mix in.

  • Label the jar so you know which herb mix it is - if you are like me, you have a few different ones in your spice drawer!

  • This recipe doubles well! The mix keeps for a couple of months in your pantry.

Enjoy!
