French Salad Dressing
Another homemade recipe – this time for French Salad Dressing. A few simple ingredients are all you need to have a delicious fresh dressing to toss your greens with or use in a recipe. When you make your own dressing, you know the healthy ingredients that went into it, can reduce the salt and sugar content, and end up with a much tastier dressing! Plus bragging rights that you made it yourself!
This French dressing is not as bright in colour as the store-bought commercial bottles (what IS in those that makes it so bright in colour?) but every bit as, if not more so, tasty!
As always, when you make this recipe, I would love to see your creation so please post a photo of your French Salad Dressing goodness and tag my IG account #RenataCollective or leave a comment with your thoughts!
Prep Time: 5 minutes / Makes: About ¾ - 1 cup
Ingredients
½ - 2/3 Cup Olive Oil
1/3 Cup Coconut Sugar
1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
1/3 Cup Ketchup – homemade or store bought
¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1½ teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Balsamic Vinegar
Pinch of Sea Salt
A Few Grinds of Fresh Black Pepper
How It’s Made
Start with ½ cup of the olive oil. Add the rest of the ingredients to a medium sized bowl and whisk until everything is mixed together smoothly, the coconut sugar is dissolved and the dressing looks glossy. If your dressing is too thick, drizzle in the remaining olive oil bit by bit (you may not need all the 2/3 cup), whisking after every addition until it has the consistency you wish.
Use the dressing right away or transfer the dressing to a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid, label your jar including the date and store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Enjoy!
