Homemade Hoisin Sauce

Renata_Collective-Homemade Hoisin Sauce 2 SQ.jpg

Homemade sauces, like my hoisin sauce recipe, are quick and easy to make and add more nutrition to your meal. I prefer to make my own sauces so I can control the ingredients, making sure they are top quality, limit the amount of sugar and salt that goes into it and leaves out the commercial additives that our bodies don’t need, like preservatives, chemical colour and thickening agents and they taste so fresh and flavourful!

The recipe below is initially not thick like commercial hoisin but thickens in the fridge. If for some reason or recipe you needed it thick immediately after making it, add a tablespoon of cooked and cooled mashed sweet potato and/or a tablespoon of tahini to your taste.

As always, when you make this recipe, please post a photo of your Homemade Hoisin Sauce goodness and tag my IG account #RenataCollective or leave a comment with your thoughts!
