Super Simple Wing-Alternative Baked Chicken

Chicken wings are such a treat when I go out to certain restaurants where I love how they prepared them. They are a treat because they contain a lot of calories and so I came up with a simple wing-alternative chicken recipe that is super simple to make and very tasty to eat. While not exactly like chicken wings, they are the healthier alternative since they are baked and not deep fried as some wing recipes require and the seasoning in so simple and really delicious! Serve with your sauce of choice! A crisp green salad goes great with this wing-alternative chicken dish!

Prep Time: 10 minutes / Cook Time: 60 minutes / Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Garlic Cloves - minced

  • 6 Chicken Drumsticks - skinned

  • 6 Chicken Thighs - trimmed of fat and cut in half

  • 4 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil – alternate: grape seed oil or avocado oil

  • 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder

  • 2 teaspoons Onion Powder

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

  • Pinch of Herbamare or Sea Salt

  • Grinds of Fresh Black Pepper

How It’s Made

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.

  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil or parchment paper.

  • Mince the garlic and set aside to release its nutritional magic while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

  • In a medium bowl, mix the oil and spices, Herbamare and a few grinds of pepper. Toss the chicken into the mixture and toss until each piece is covered in the oil and spices.

  • Arrange the chicken pieces on the prepared sheet.

  • Cook the chicken for 40 minutes and check for doneness – a meat thermometer should register 165°F. Increase the oven temp to 450°F for 10 minutes to crisp up the chicken.

  • Remove from the oven, transfer to a serving plate and serve as they are or with the sauces of your choice!
