I love how hot oatmeal warms both body and soul on a cold winter morning or really any morning as I make hot oatmeal throughout the year! The hemp hearts provide protein and richness to the oatmeal and make you feel full longer. The oats and oat bran contain fiber, antioxidants, a multitude of minerals and vitamins, the walnuts are brain food with their omega 3 fats, antioxidants, and have benefits for lowering cholesterol and the blueberries are packed with antioxidants and nutrients plus they happen to be sweet and delicious!

Prep Time: 3 minutes / Total time: 15 minutes / Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 cup large flake Oats – (Option: Gluten Free)

  • ¼ cup oat bran

  • 1 cup almond milk + 1/3 cup for serving

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 Tbsp hemp hearts

  • ¼ cup walnuts – chopped

  • 1/3 cup blueberries (or other berries of choice)

  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup, 1 teaspoon Stevia or 1 Tablespoon Coconut Sugar (or sweetener of choice)

How It’s Made

  • Put the oats, oat bran, almond milk and water in a medium sized pot, give it a stir to combine and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.

  • Add the hemp hearts and the walnuts, reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 6-10 minutes until the mixture is thick. It might take a little longer depending on the strength of your stove element.

  • Spoon the oatmeal into bowls and sweeten with your choice of sweetener.

  • Pour the extra almond milk on top.

  • Divide the blueberries between the 2 servings.

Enjoy!
