Fajita Spice Mix
I like to make my own spice mixes as I can limit the amount of salt, mix flavours, balance the spiciness to suit the palate of my family and the ingredients are all natural. Plus, it’s fun and easy and I find homemade makes the food taste better!
Use all dried herbs for this recipe if you plan on storing it. You can use fresh oregano and parsley (minced very fine) if you will use it all in one recipe - like the Slow Cooker Chicken Fajitas recipe. This makes a milder fajita spice mix. For more heat, double the cayenne and add the chili flakes.
Prep Time: 5 minutes / Cook time: No cook time / Total: 5 minutes / Makes: 1/3 cup of spice mix.
Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
1 Tablespoon Cumin
1 Tablespoon Oregano
2 Teaspoons Paprika
1½ Teaspoons Parsley
1 Teaspoon Herbed Sea Salt (I use Herbamare – available at Costco and most grocery stores)
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne
1/8 Teaspoon Turmeric – Optional
1/4 Teaspoon freshly ground Pepper – Optional
1/4 Teaspoon Chili Flakes - Optional
How It’s Made:
Mix all the ingredients together and store in a jar with a good seal. This will keep in your pantry for a year.
Enjoy!
Variations:
Double or triple the recipe if you want more of the spice mix made up and ready to use in other recipes.
