Renata’s Lemon Zest and Juice Tip

How often are you making a recipe and it calls for the zest and/or juice of a lemon? It’s a tedious task, I find, to have to do this mid-recipe. Or you only have one sad-looking lemon in the fruit bowl… If this is you too, then I have a tip for you that I have found incredibly helpful, useful and super handy.

Did you know that you can freeze lemon zest? Yes, you can!

I zest 2 or 3 fresh beautiful lemons, store that zest in the freezer and then juice those lemons and keep the juice in a bottle in the fridge. It’s that simple!

I find that putting the zest on a plate, spreading it out to let it freeze for a couple of hours is best and then transferring it to the container you will keep the zest in the freezer in (I use a baggie).

Hope this helps you too! Give it a try!
