Soothing Ginger Tea
This tea is lovely and warming and soothing all year round, especially on a cool Autumn or Winter morning, afternoon or evening and also works wonders to soothe that tickle of a start of a sore throat!
Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has been shown to lower blood sugar levels, helps with digestion, eases nausea, may lower bad cholesterol and can help fight infections. It can play a mighty important role in our health! Drink up!
Prep: 3 minutes / Total time: 15 minutes – includes time to let the water boil / Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh water 
- 2-inch piece fresh ginger (or more if you wish a stronger flavour) – peeled if not organic 
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon – optional but delicious 
- Honey – to taste 
- Lemon slices - optional 
Instructions
- Bring water to boil. 
- While water is heating up, thinly slice the piece of ginger and place in a teapot or another pourable container that can sustain the boiling water. 
- When water boils, pour over the ginger and allow to steep for 5-8 minutes. 
- Add cinnamon, if including, and stir to mix. 
- Pour into mugs/cups. 
- Add honey to taste. 
- Add lemon slices, if using.
