My Philosophy

My motives are simple: to share my knowledge and what inspires me to reach for health and happiness in the kitchen. I want to help you to look after yourself and replenish your immune system with a variety of whole foods, including options for plant-based, fermented, gluten-free and dairy-free. We’ll enjoy some wildly decadent treats, take deep breaths, enjoy belly-laughs and be aware and mindful of what we are nourishing ourselves with – food and otherwise…

Roots then Wings. I was taught roots for a solid grounding and wings to touch the sky.  This is how I raised my sons and how I approach every new experience, from new friendships to new learnings. My approach to cooking and baking follows this sage practice: Establish a foundation of knowledge first, then let my imagination take flight; have fun, experiment, explore, try new experiences, fail, try again (and sometimes again) to succeed and ultimately to be content in my accomplishments. 

Gratitude. I start and end each day with gratitude. Joy is everywhere and I give thanks for the smallest and biggest things in equal measure. Opening my heart with full gratitude means I open myself to wonderful possibilities and unexpected opportunities.

Nourishment. For me, body, soul and spirit dovetail together. Connecting with you and sharing food and feelings mindfully and with intention brings nourishment to us both. The purpose of this site is to share my recipes, my experiences and things that bring me joy in the hopes of sparking the same for you.

Gather. Coming together around the table with family and friends to share stories and enjoy a satiating meal prepared with love, or being together to share a common hobby, interest, discussion or a game is one of the greatest joys in my life. 

Reflection. Looking both inwardly and outwardly has become my practice to learn what I need in the moment. Taking time for myself and withdrawing when I need to recharge and reflect means I can see what is and isn’t working for me, and what I can do to find balance and make it better. All the while, telling myself, I am important, I matter and I am worthy of living my best life.  

Always Be Learning. Curiosity is my default. I do the work - I search deep for the answers I need and I will only accept research from credible sources (no fake news here!).

Authenticity. Here, you will always be greeted with honesty, respect and kindness because this is who I am at my core. With me, what you see is what you get and I look forward to meeting and getting to know your true self.
